Catherine, an avid animal lover, has been around dogs and horses her whole life. Her interest in training became evident when she taught her Quarter Horse how to bow for a carrot. From a young age, Catherine could be found riding her reining horse in preparation for national events. This highly disciplined sport exposed her to a wide variety of working breed dogs, and taught her how to read animal body language, work as a team, and think ahead of her four-legged partner.
Catherine enjoys helping owners be clear and consistent leaders, dogs be well behaved family members, and the team have a strong loving relationship. At the Ranch, she helps owners refine their training abilities in group classes and private lessons. For owners with limited time, she can help build a good foundation and extinguish problem behaviors in Day Training and Stay & Learn. The Karen Pryor Academy and Animal Behavior College taught her the immense value of positive reinforcement.
Catherine currently lives in Raleigh with her husband, 2 Canaans, a Löwchen, a cat, and a parrot.
