Boarding Policies

Check-Out Time!

Our resort charges by the day with check-out time being at noon. Overnight guests checking out after 12:00pm will be charged another day’s rate. The check-in date will be charged as a full day regardless of the check-in time because we are reserving the accommodations for the entire day and the pet will be here overnight. Check-out times may vary on holidays. Please note our holiday hours.

Non-Refundable Deposit Policy

We required a $30 non-refundable deposit per pet for your reservation. If the reservation is canceled/revised one (1) day prior to drop-off or five (5) business days (holiday stay), then the deposit will stay on your account for future services. Otherwise, the non-refundable deposit will be forfeited.

Resort Activities

The owner recognizes that injuries can result from any/all individual activities. Carolina Ranch will uphold the highest level of safety and constant supervision by trained staff members to ensure the safety of your pet. Doggie Daycare is an active playground event. Dogs who are members in our Daycare Program spend the day running, climbing on and jumping off playground equipment, diving into the pool and roughhousing (usually involving mouths and paws) with their four-footed friends. We make every attempt to assign our Doggie Daycare participants to compatible play groups whenever possible based on size and temperament. Despite our best efforts, accidents may occur, and injury may result. We will ask you to agree to pay for any/all medical charges in the event my dog needs medical attention.

Vaccine & Flea Policies

We highly recommend pets receiving vaccine updates for their stay, be performed a minimum of seven (7) days prior to check in to provide optimum coverage. Our resort guests are required to be up-to-date on their vaccines (DHPP, Rabies, 6-month Intranasal Bordetella, and stool check for dogs; FVRCP and Rabies for cats) for any day or overnight stay in the resort. If your pet is due for any of their vaccines, they will be examined and vaccinated by our veterinarian at an additional cost.

Vaccine records can be faxed to us prior to your pet’s visit if these have been updated elsewhere. All of our boarding friends must have tested negative on a fecal test performed within one year of the participation date of that service. They must also be current on heartworm and flea preventative. Heartworm testing is required annually for all dogs participating in social activities. All our guests are checked for fleas upon arrival. If fleas are found, then treatment will be administered at an additional cost to you. Please tell us the last date of flea preventative application at check-in.

Individual and Social Activities Policies

The owner recognizes that injuries can result from any individual or group activities. Carolina Ranch will uphold the highest level of safety and constant supervision by trained staff members to ensure the safety of your pet. Doggie Daycare and individual playtime are an active playground events. Dogs that are members in our Daycare Program or participate in individual playtime spend time running, climbing on and jumping off playground equipment, diving into the pool and rough housing (usually involving mouths and paws) with their four-footed friends or a resort team member. Despite our best efforts, accidents may occur, and injury may result. The owner agrees to pay for any/all medical charges in the event my dog needs medical attention.

Carolina Ranch Animal Hospital & Resort requires an initial evaluation day for all dogs entering the Daycare Program for the first time and for any dogs that have not participated for 6 months or more, in order to minimize risks as much as possible. During this evaluation period, your dog will be slowly introduced to the playgroup in stages. At each stage, your dogs behaviors will be evaluated by our staff. After the initial evaluation phase is satisfied, your dog will enjoy all the fun and exercise the Doggie Daycare Program has to offer! We make every attempt to assign our Doggie Daycare participants to compatible play groups based on size and temperament. Any questions and or concerns that may arise during the evaluation day will be addressed in a timely manner, so we can discuss possible alternatives. Please keep in mind that dogs temperaments can change over time and may become necessary to reassess their ability to participate.

Belongings

We provide bedding; however, if you prefer to bring items from home, only small blankets are allowed. Please limit the number of toys to two (all items must be labeled). We are not responsible for misplaced or damaged items and replacement is not available. All unclaimed Lost/Found Items will be donated to a local shelter after 2 weeks.

Contagious Illness Disclaimer

We are honored that you have chosen to entrust your pet's care to us. We encourage you to contact us if your pet is displaying any signs of discomfort or unusual behaviors after their stay with us at The Ranch.

We ask that you agree and understand that even well vaccinated pets may become sick after boarding or travelling. Like the common cold in people, there are many different bacteria and viruses that can cause upper respiratory infections. It is actually the exposure to multiple strains at once that can lead to acute infection which cannot be vaccinated against. Research has shown that dogs vaccinated with intranasal bordetella, a vaccine that vaccinates against multiple disease causing agents (Bordetella, Adenovirus, and Parainfluenza), are much less likely to succumb to upper airway diseases, and if they do, the infection will be milder.

Intact Male Policies

We ask that you understand that intact males tend to excessively groom their private areas, especially when not in their home environment and can lead to irritation and inflammation of the scrotal area. Carolina Ranch encourages clients to reach out if their dog experiences these symptoms. In an effort to reduce this risk:

  • Drying powder is applied daily
  • Limited use of disinfectant in sleeping quarters
  • Provide an elevated cot.

Medical and Emergency Care Policies

In the event your pet needs medical attention (this may include, but not limited to, symptoms such as inappetence for more than 1 day, vomiting and or diarrhea) while staying with us, the veterinarians will perform the necessary treatment to protect the health and comfort of your pet. We will call the emergency number provided to inform you and discuss further treatment options as soon as your pet is in stable condition. A veterinarian will always provide basic treatments to stabilize your pet regardless if we are able to reach you. If you are unreachable, a decision will be made on appropriate treatment at the discretion of the veterinarian. Any costs involved in these procedures are your responsibility at check-out.
